Ghost, deaf/blind Catahoula puppy
Meet Ghost!
This little sweetie is roughly 3 months old and he came to us from California. He is part Catahoula/part “unsure.” Ghost is deaf and is severely sight impaired, but that doesn't stop him from being the happiest boy ever! He can learn to follow you by smell and we are working on touch signs to tell him what direction to go in, whether he needs to step up or down, and for sit, wait and "no". He loves to play with his sister and has been good with the kittycats.
Ghost is a sweet, playful boy who has no idea he's too big to be a lap dog! He loves to splash in the water, but is still learning to love bath time. He's happiest curled up in your lap, playing tug-o-war, exploring his surroundings or playing in the water outside.
He's not really ready for daytime walks yet because he's still learning to trust where he is being led or told to go, but night walks are a lot of fun for him because he can see the light of a flashlight. We can walk together and he'll follow the light if you point it toward him. This way he always knows where you are. You can even play this way in a fenced yard; he loves running to you because it's not something he normally can do, but with the flashlight he can see just where you are.
This little boy can get a little protective with his food and toys so he will need a home that will work closely with him and manage this with the people and other dogs in the household.
We are strongly recommending no small children in the home he is adopted to. Also, we need potential adopters to research the Catahoula breed and understand what makes them wonderful dogs, but also where they can have their challenges. They are very high energy and need consistency and an owner that has confident dog experience and patience.
His adoption fee is $300 which includes one free training with our in house trainer.
